As you begin the great journey of church planting exploration, you may be wondering, “How do I know if ‘Church Planting’ is where God wants me?” If so, you are not alone. The most effective church planters all began with a head full of questions about their place in this ministry.
To help you navigate these uncertain waters, the CMN has provided a tool to help discern this calling. It’s called the “Discovery Tool”. You can download this tool online by clicking the below link. This tool asks a number of questions about your calling, spiritual giftedness, and passion for ministry. Answering these questions will give you and your group a better understanding of how you fit into the church planting ministry.
CMN Self Discovery Tool
Being confident of God’s calling to church planting is only the first step in the process of becoming a planter. Those that God has called must also determine where His Spirit is leading them to plant a church. Experience has demonstrated that God calls certain people to plant churches in particular areas. In His wisdom, God matches the personalities, socioeconomic backgrounds, ethnicities, and strengths of the planters and the planting field. We are here to help you discern if, where, and how you might plant a church!
Congratulations! The decision has been made—you are an official church planter with CMN! The next question, of course, is “now what?”
There are a number of things that you need to accomplish. To help you keep track and guarantee that everything is in place, the CMN has provided you with a detailed check-list of tasks that you need to accomplish. Click on the link below to download the detailed check-list. Check off each item you complete as mileposts in your journey towards planting a church.
Please do NOT treat this list lightly. It is intended to be a significant guide for you as you move toward planting a church. The items included are ideally to be completed BEFORE you ever get to your church planting field. The more you complete before you arrive, the better. Once you are on the field, you will be able to focus more on establishing relationships. Completing as much of the work as possible before arriving on the field usually allows the planter to conserve financial resources for the more relational components of planting...like being with people!
As you begin planting, here’s a simple but effective resource that will help you in your journey:
